European Parliament Hosts SIRIUS 3.0 Annual Policy Conference to Advance Inclusive Education in Europe
The European Parliament is hosted the SIRIUS 3.0 Annual Policy Conference in Brussels, 6 June 2025. It was a high-profile gathering that brought together European Union policymakers, education experts, and civil society representatives to chart the future of inclusive education across Europe.
The event, which was moderated by the Network of Education Policy Centers (NEPC), was not just another conference — it was a call to action. The discussions aimed to move inclusive education from a well-meaning principle to a political priority embedded in EU and national policy frameworks.
At the heart of dialogue was the presentation of the latest SIRIUS Migrant Education Policy Index, which highlights best practices, persistent challenges, and concrete recommendations for building education systems that leave no learner behind.
The conference featured a panel of influential voices from the European Parliament, European Commission, academia, and civil society:
- Aodhán Ó Ríordáin, Member of the European Parliament
- Rory McDaid, President of the Sirius Network Board
- Hristina Petkova, European Commission
- Alexander Wolffhardt, Deputy Director, Migration Policy Group (MPG)
- Mojib Atal, Integration Policy Analyst, MPG
- Lana Jurko, Moderator, Network of Education Policy Centers (NEPC)
Together, they addressed pressing questions:
How can EU Member States turn inclusive education from a vision into reality?
What policies and investments are needed to support learners from diverse backgrounds, including migrant and refugee children?
How can civil society and policymakers collaborate to close gaps in access and outcomes?
