Sveti Martin na Muri is a village and municipality in Međimurje County, in northern Croatia. Terme Sveti Martin resort, the first healthness resort in Europe, located in northern Croatia. The resort is located in an oasis of peace in Međimurje region, where tradition, culture and history have lived in the region of nature for over a hundred years. It is the only European region that has won the European Destination of Excellence award for the third time. The resort is surrounded by as many as 27 hectares of untouched nature, picturesque hills of vineyards, as well as the cutest deer. The resort is now known for its idyllic and healthy natural environment.

Travel information

Travel by plane

If you are travelling by plane (via Zagreb), a bus transfer between Zagreb Airport and Toplice Sveti Martin will be organised on the following dates:

Zagreb Airport → Toplice Sveti Martin: 16 September 2026 (two departures latest at 15:30)
Toplice Sveti Martin → Zagreb Airport: 18 September 2026 (one departure) and 19 September 2026 (one departure). Exact departure times will be communicated to participants at a later date. If you want to use the transport ensure that your flight arrival is before 14:30 on the 16th of September. Please note whether you need transfer in your registration form.

If you want to organize your travel on an individual basis, getting to Toplice Sveti Martin typically involves a combination of transport from Zagreb Airport via Zagreb and Čakovec (120 km), with several options depending on your budget and comfort preferences. The most common route includes taking a shuttle or taxi from the airport to Zagreb Bus Station, followed by an intercity bus to Čakovec, and then a local bus or taxi to the hotel. The total travel time is approximately 2 to 3 hours, with flexible departures throughout the day. Please see detailed information below.

Other nearby airports include Graz (110–130 km), Ljubljana (200 km), Maribor (80–90 km), Budapest (300km), Vienna (250km), and Bratislava (260-280 km). From Graz, Ljubljana, and Maribor, the fastest option is a car or taxi (1–2,5 hours), while public transport usually takes 2–5 hours with transfers. From Budapest Airport, travel takes around 3–3,5 hours by car, while bus/train combinations take 4–6 hours and require at least one transfer. Vienna and Bratislava require around 2,5–3 hours by car, while bus/train options take 6-8 hours with multiple transfers.

Travelling by car

From the direction of Zagreb

Take the A4 motorway in the direction Goričan, get off at the Varaždin exit. At the first roundabout, turn right towards Varaždin, at the second roundabout drive straight ahead and at the third roundabout turn left and follow the signs to Pušćine – G. Hrašćan – Macinec – Gornji Mihaljevec – Vugrišinec – Železna Gora- Sveti Martin.

From the direction of Maribor and Graz

Leave the motorway at the Lendava exit and drive in the direction of Mursko Središče (border crossing). In Mursko Središče immediately after the border crossing, turn right in the direction of Sveti Martin na Muri. After passing through the town of Sveti Martin na Muri, turn left towards Sveti Martin.

Visa

Please note that NEPC, as the organiser of the conference, may be required to submit a letter of guarantee to the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs for visa purposes. An administrative fee of EUR 18,58 will apply for issuing this document and will be added to the conference participation fee. If you require a visa and need this support, please contact NEPC by July 6th so the process can be initiated in timely manner.
