PIQET Principles: Setting a New Global Standard for High-Quality CPD
Two NEPC members, the Educational Research Institute (Slovenia) and Open Academy Step by Step (Croatia), have joined forces together with the International Step by Step Association (Netherlands) under the PIQET initiative to publish a groundbreaking resource outlining nine quality principles for the recruitment, training, and ongoing support of continuous professional development (CPD) educators. PIQET principles are carefully designed to strengthen educator development, focusing on subject expertise, diversity and inclusion, participant-centered planning, and continuous professional growth.
Grounded in the values of social justice, equity, and inclusion, the PIQET Principles serve as both a policy framework and a practical guide. They provide quality statements, indicators, reflective questions, and real-world examples to help CPD educators refine their practice. This resource not only fosters a shared understanding of high-quality CPD across educational institutions but also encourages active engagement within the CPD community—setting a new global standard for educator professional development.
