Quality Education for All – North Macedonia

Quality Education for All - Macedonia

The Council of Europe Programme Office in Skopje is currently carrying out an important initiative, “Quality Education for All – North Macedonia“, generously funded by Germany. This substantial project is underway, spanning from December 2022 and continuing until November 2025.

Its overarching goal is to advance democracy and human rights within the realm of education, deploying a comprehensive array of measures at both the policy and grassroots levels. The project’s central mission is to equip children with the competencies necessary to thrive in a multicultural society.

At the core of this endeavor is the support provided to 25 pilot schools, enabling them to actively engage with local communities and civil society organizations. Together, they aim to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment for all students. This support takes shape through:

  • Empowering policymakers with the knowledge and capacity needed to facilitate the implementation of the national Education Strategy (2018-2025);
  • Assisting teachers in cultivating new professional competencies;
  • Practices and attitudes that enhance the development of democratic culture competencies in their students.

Starting from June onwards, the project has been fortunate to receive support from the experts of the Network of Education Policy Centers (NEPC). These experts are actively engaged in providing consultancy to local experts who are collaborating with the pilot schools. Their collective efforts are instrumental in propelling this initiative towards its goals of fostering quality education for all and promoting democracy and human rights.
